Fr Paddy Sweeney will conduct a series of topical Lenten Reflections (“Living in Unsettling Times”) over five Thursdays during Lent. He will be speaking from each of the churches in our grouping beginning in OLV and here in Ballygall on Thursday 4th March at 7.30pm. A week when we focus on the gifts of our schools and their contribution to the faith and formation of our children. This year the theme is ‘Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith & Resilience’. This year as we know has been so difficult and we thank all in Sacred Heart and Mother of Divine Grace schools as well as Scoil Chiarain, St. Michael’s House and St. Kevin’s for their trojan work with our young people.

It is with a heavy heart that we must once again close our churches for public masses with effect from St Stephen’s day. 

Mass will be celebrated behind closed doors starting with 10.00 a.m. Mass on St Stephen’s Day and can be viewed on our webcam.

Our church will remain open for private prayer.

All our Masses will be available online from our own church and from the other churches in the Glasnevin Grouping and Area.

Christmas Greetings to Family And Friends Abroad

If you would like to greet your family members who are living abroad for our Christmas Services, please leave their names, town / country in the Parish Office. 

We will welcome them through our internet broadcast on Christmas Eve / Christmas Day before each of our Masses begins.

Christmas Eve & Christmas Day Mass Schedule.

5 p.m. Mass – Family Mass, with members of the Children’s Mass group leading the liturgy.

7 p.m. will be the ‘Saturday evening group’ leading the Congregation singing.

9 p.m. will be the Traditional choir style Mass with some members of the choir present to lead the singing.

Christmas Morning Masses (at 09.30 a.m. and 11.00 a.m.) will have a cantor leading the singing at both Masses.

As you will understand all Masses will by nature be much simpler than in the past and your patience and support will be greatly appreciated.

In view of the restriction on numbers, we will be issuing tickets for the Christmas Masses. From Wednesday, 9^th December, we invited parishioners to book their tickets for Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning Mass. Members of the Parish Pastoral Council were available after 10.00 a.m. Mass each day, including the weekend Masses, to distribute tickets. All tickets are now gone.

This year due to health and safety precautions and government restrictions, it has been decided to celebrate our Annual Mass of the Dead in November online. Each person that has died during the year Sept 2019 – Aug 2020 will be prayed for and a candle lit to remember them. As families and friends will be unable to be present you are invited to join us on the parish website and pray with us from your homes on Friday 6th November 7.30pm

You are invited to light a candle at home during the mass as a way of linking in with the wider community joining us on Friday night at 7.30pm

Now that the County of Dublin has moved to Level 3 Covid Restrictions this weekend the knock-on consequences for us are:-

Unfortunately, we will not be permitted to have any parishioners present in the church for Mass. We will have to revert to broadcasting mass online only.

Attendees for both Funerals and Weddings will be reduced to 25 only.

Baptisms scheduled for this weekend will have to be postponed.

The church will be opened for private prayer only.

By now you will all have seen and heard that we are permitted to hold our first public mass this week.  We have decided to commence with 10.00am Mass on Wednesday morning, 1^st July and will continue with 10.00 a.m. Mass daily thereafter. We will also have Mass at 6.30 p.m. on Saturday evening and 10.00 a.m. Mass Sunday morning. While we really look forward to welcoming back parishioners to be physically present at Mass, you will notice that we have had to implement a number of changes in order to ensure the safety of all those present.

Due to measures introduced by the HSE and guidelines from Dublin Diocese all Masses in Ballygall parish are suspended until further notice. One Mass will be celebrated behind closed doors in Ballygall church each weekday (Mon-Sat) at 10.00am and accessible to parishioners via webcam at this link.

We have also had to make the decision to close our church for the foreseeable future.

It has been difficult to keep all points of contact in the church clean. We have been cleaning during the week and thank you to those who helped out. However, as we have carpet and with the footfall in our church and the difficulties in cleaning this to sanitary level in light of recent events and the instructions from Government we feel it is safer for the people of our parish and grouping to have the church closed.

Saturday Vigil Mass 6.30pm will be broadcast from Ballygall. On Sunday the 9.30am Mass will be broadcast from St. Alphonsus Monastery, and 11.00am from Iona Road church. RTE has agreed to broadcast daily mass on RTE News Now at 10.30am from St Eunan Cathedral, Letterkenny.

Here  in  our  Parish  of  Ballygall   we  no  longer  have  a  10.00 a.m.  mass  on  Mondays.    This  does  not  mean  that  we  as  a  Parish and  Faith  Community  cannot  gather  together  to  pray  and  reflect  on  the  day’s  Readings  at  that  time.

Some  parishioners  have  been  trained   in  leading  prayer,  so  for  the  six  Mondays  of  Lent,  starting  on  Monday  March  2nd  at  10.00  a.m.   you  are  cordially  invited  to  participate  in  a  Liturgy  of  the  Word.

During  Lent  we  are  all  encouraged  to  take  time  to  pray  and  to reflect   on  God’s  Word, so  this  offers  an  opportunity  for  our  community  to  do  this  together.  We  hope  that  many  of  you  will  join  us  and  be  enriched  by  the  experience.
