The archbishop has written to us thanking each parish for their support towards the clergy through the Summer Dues collection introduced last year, enabling an increase of 5% in the monthly stipend to priests last August.
With the return of more parishioners to Church over the past few months the regular First Collection has enabled a further 5% increase. There is still, however a 30% drop in the First Collection in the first four months of 2022, out the diocese, compared to the same period in 2019.
The archbishop proposes proposes that we relaunch the Summer Dues Collection from 17th June.
Dr. Farrell reminds us of the value of coming together as a community to celebrate the Lord’s Day. The webcam etc. were most helpful during the pandemic but it is time to restore Sunday Mass as the source and summit of our Christian commitment through communion with the Lord and each other.
We are called to listen carefully to the Spirit calling us to build a future full of hope.
