In his Message for Mission Sunday, the Holy Father says the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy invites us \u201cto consider the missio ad gentes \u2013 the mission to the world \u2013 as a great, immense work of mercy, both spiritual and material.\u201d World Mission Sunday, he continues, calls us \u201cto \u2018go out\u2019 as missionary disciples, each generously offering talents, creativity, wisdom and experience in order to carry the message of God\u2019s tenderness and compassion to the entire human family.\u201d He reminds us that \u201cBy virtue of the missionary mandate, the Church cares for those who do not know the Gospel, because she wants everyone to be saved and to experience the Lord\u2019s love.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pope Francis emphasizes the role of women in missionary work, noting the \u201cconsiderable and growing presence of women in the missionary world\u201d which he describes as \u201ca significant sign of God\u2019s maternal love.\u201d<\/p>\n
He speaks, too, of the importance of education, adding, \u201cI hope, therefore, that the holy people of God will continue to exercise this maternal service of mercy, which helps those who do not yet know the Lord to encounter and love Him.\u201d<\/p>\n
His Holiness Pope Francis says, \u201cAll peoples and cultures have the right to receive the message of salvation which is God\u2019s gift to every person.\u201d Jesus\u2019 command to preach the Gospel to all nations has not ceased, he concluded: \u201crather this command commits all of us, in the current landscape with all its challenges, to hear the call to a renewed missionary \u2018impulse\u2019.\u201d.<\/p>\n
