PRESENTATION TO MARIE

Before tonight’s lovely Penitential Service, presentations were made to Marie Cunningham, who recently stepped down as Chairperson of our Parish Pastoral Council. Fr. Joseph paid tribute to Marie’s dedicated work during nine years as Chairperson as well as her many years as one of the key organisers of our parish Family Mass. New PPC Chairperson Breda O’Doherty presented a bouquet of flowers to her predecessor while Marie received a voucher from Sr. Irene Dunne of the Parish Team. Marie will continue her involvement with the Family Mass and as a member of the PPC.

ALONE’s Christmas Campaign: Show an older person you care this Christmas

On the 23rd of November, ALONE launched their Christmas campaign highlighting the isolation and loneliness of older people during the Christmas period. At the launch of the campaign, ALONE’s Ambassador, Anne Doyle, called on members of the public to reach out to older members of their community who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation.

Sean Moynihan, CEO of ALONE commented, “We find that calls for support dramatically increase over the winter period and loneliness is one of the main issues that people come to us for support with. Christmas can be a particularly isolating time for older people who have no loved ones to share it with. We can all be guilty of getting caught up in the rush of Christmas and reuniting with friends and family, but for many older people they will spend Christmas ALONE, in silence.”

ADVENT HEALING SERVICE WEDNESDAY 14th DECEMBER @ 7.30PM

This simple and welcoming service offers and opportunity to come together and place our worries and concerns in the empty manger and invite Jesus to come into our lives with His healing presence.
Petitions for prayers may be written and left in our petition box placed on the Sanctuary. All these intentions will be prayed for during our service.
It is our hope that all will leave feeling blessed, supported and stronger for the Christmas Season.

The Big Clean Up (OR Cleanliness is next to Godliness)

Following our appeal last weekend for Volunteer Cleaners for The Big Ballygall Clean Up, this morning at the Church, there was a great turn out.  Under the watchful eye of Catherine Mulready from our PPC who organised the event, and Nancy our dedicated weekly volunteer cleaner, the boys and girls went to work inside and outside.  Regulars were joined by new friends, Valerie, Amy, Tom, Patrick, Hugh and some young people from the Order of Malta.  A terrific job was done and it is hoped that this will become a regular event.   Sincere thanks to all the volunteers from Fr. Joe, Fr. Harry and the Parish Council. cleaning-269cleaning-270cleaning-277 cleaning-274
